I wanted to use a custom Visual Style for My computer (I have windows Xp btw) and I read somewhere that in order to do that I had to patch up my uxtheme.dll file with UXTheme Multi-Patcher 4.0 So I did but my visual style ended up not working, and my usual xp style was gone, instead I was left with the old windows 98 style.
So I went and unpatched my uxtheme.dll file but I still cannot change my style back to the original windows xp theme! I tried everything but now I am hopeless, what can I do?
Yes, I tried system restore but since I rebooted my computer yesterday, it told me nothing had changed!

Have you tried system restore?
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
Pick a restore point that exists prior to you patching the .dll file
Next time you do something that is going to change something on Windows, go to System Restore and manually create your own restore point so you can go back to how things were right before you did whatever screwed things up.
