Recently, i changed to using Firefox because when i used internet explorer, i couldn’t click on a picture. ie. in Google there are thumbnail images, I couldn’t click on those so i changed.
After a period of time, there have been random pop up images so i used the then working task manager to delete them. Now I can’t open task manager because it saids that the administrator doesn’t give permission when in fact I am the administrator and I do!
Today when i turned on my computer, there was a weird desktop picture with the antivirus xp 2008 and i can’t change it because my desktop option is zilch. Furthermore, after research on the net, I found out that Antivirus xp 2008 is in fact a virus and i find myself unable to rid it.
I have tried using the ‘control panel’ to uninstall antivirus xp 2008 but it doesn’t work.
Other notes: I can’t sync mp4 videos into my ipod also..not sure if that helps to fix it. Also, my quicktime is working properly i even clicked repair in the control panel awhile ago when it was working. Finally, my ad-aware program 6.0 real anti-virus program cannot be opened.
SO PLEASE HELP ME!! Computer technicians, whoever you are..PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanking you in advance, i give you my full gratitude, just please help me.

'Antivirus 2009 (or 2008)' is a piece of malware that infects your computer and constantly pops up notices that you have an infection and you have to buy or update Antivirus 2009. This is a scam. The malware installed when you downloaded something from the web, sometimes masquerading as a video codec or other useful software. It is persistent, and infects a numberof Windows files.

If you have to, go and get the removal tools on someone else's computer, and burn them to a CD or a USB memory stick.

i’d say there is no way to get rid of it, the onlly way is to format your hard drive, so then your whole system would be clean of viruses, thats what i DID, when i had the exact same problem as you. If you do format your computer it means everything gets wiped out including windows xp. By the way, if you do get a new antivirs, get avg free..its really good. Heres the link:
