A month or so after my sister sells me her computer, the anti-virus on it expires (coincidence? lol), so i go out and buy this. But im not quite sure how anti-viruses work. Do they automatically delete the viruses they detect or what?
Also, my computer is still running quite slow; what else can i do about that?
Finally, after i installed this and scanned my computer i started getting RUNddl errors, so supposedly i need a registry clean. What is a reliable brand that i could get ?

use CCleaner for registry cleaning.
regarding Kaspersky -
yes it automatically deletes the viruses, but in case if the virus has bound itself with some normal file, then it’ll ask you whether you want to quarntine it / delete / skip (it’ll also tell you what’s recommended out of those 3 options and hence no confusion)

Kaspersky is the best paid AV on the market right now. I have it also. But there is one draw back. It has to have at least one gig of memory to work efficiently. If you don’t have one gig of memory your computer will slow down. If you can update your memory.
If you have the required one gig it will run smooth as silk and catch things other AV’s miss.
You need to do a good cleaning out. Make sure all the old AV is gone. Do a file search for any remains.
Get Ccleaner & Glary utility’s, Also get a program called defraggler. It is a better defrag tool than what came with the computer. If you have the required memory these programs will speed your computer back up.

hi,
I hope you have deinstalled the expired anti-virus first before installing the new one you have purchased.
Kaspersky, as well as other anti-virus applications, are set by default to quarantine virus malware only. It will be retained in your hard drive but will not wreak havoc to your system, you will then have to delete it manually yourself. You can change its default action from Quarantine to Delete / Clean - depends on your preference.
Regarding poor performance - if it is currently running with 2 anti-virus, then this will cause the poor performance, plus other issues (dll erros, etc). Also, after doing a full system scan, please run a disk defrag on to your disk.
hope this helps.
