I have a company, and we are beginning a monthly newsletter starting in September. I want to send people the newsletter, and I have some email addresses I could send it out to, but I don't want to send spam to people, or people to think its spam. Any ideas on creating a strong list of subscribers.
My site is http://www.brienprivatefinance.com
I don't want to spam people asking if they want to become a subscriber, but I don't know of any other way to ask people if they want to subscribe to it. Any help would be appreciated.

Send the email with the newsletter attached.
Address every single recipient by their first name.
In the very first sentence, tell them that this is the only issue they are going to receive unless they decide to "opt in" to future issues by signing up on your site.
Put some compelling content in the subject line of the email - nothing deceiving but something that relates to the content.
Prompty honor all "unsubscribe" requests and have a working email to capture those requests.
Do some google research on "Can Spam" and follow those requirements.
Good luck….

Offer a FREE REPORT or some other thing of value as incentive to subscribe to your newsletter. FEATURE this offer on the front page of your web site. Then promote your web site like crazy. Use pay-per-click, organic search, banners, classified ads, pay-per-view and any other source possible to promote your FREE OFFER.
In time, this will produce a very good - solid list of opt-in subscribers. Another very solid, inexpensive way of promoting your free report is to use eBay classifieds.
