My Free AVG refuses to be uninstalled or deleted. In order to contact Grisoft AVG for their advice, I need to find my registered licence number, which is not displayed, because my Free AVG has expired and is not able to run. In order to see the licence I must follow the steps below, which means I must first “run” my free AVG.
But I can’t even do the first step, because my Free AVG is not able to “run”, because it is expired.
What do I do now?
I e-mailed Grisoft head office overseas and they just keep sending me a standard computer generated e-mail with instructions that first require me to find my licence number before I can follow the steps to uninstall it. I can’t seem to get in touch with a real human from Grisoft AVG.
The reason why I want to uninstall AVG is because I have just bought and installed Norton.
How to display/copy the license number?
AVG
Run AVG.
Double-click the License component.
Your AVG License Number is shown in the lower part of the screen in AVG.
Use the Copy license number button to take the license number to the clipboard. Then enter the number into the text field using CTRL+V shortcut.

The only way to unninstall it properly is to actually download AVG Free again double click on it as you would when you install it and the program will give you an option to install, repair or remove…

i assume you already tried the add/remove programs in the control panel
download ccleaner and run it
there is an uninstaller there for stubborn programs

Well ,, anthony tells the truth ,, BUT,, I run the free AVG ,, and there is no expiration dates nor any expiration times .. It has been running for two years now and doin’ a great job .. The only way you might be able to remove it is to re-load it then uninstall it ,,like that ,, or,, you might try ,, a progarm that I use for free called perfect uninstaller .it’s a great one that also cleans alot of places that your regular add-remove program wont clean up , left over files in the registry and the such ..

please install AVG free again and then get the Revo Uninstaller from http://www.revouninstaller.com and remove it.
