Boot to the XP disk and format the drive and install XP. That is all

You don’t need to uninstall Ubuntu, just boot off of the XP CD and do the install, when you get the part about choosing which partition to install it on, just delete any partitions that show up and create a new one.

You don’t need uninstall Ubuntu. A fresh install of Windows will format your entire hard disk.
You only need the Windows CD. Insert it on your CD drive and reboot your PC. If your PC is set to boot from CD then you’ll start the Windows install process. If not, you’ll need to setup your BIOS to boot from CD.

a) Ubuntu is so different to Windows that if you do not like it then OK.
Otherwise I suggest getting a book on Ubuntu.
b) What the other guys are answering is Good. If you have a Legal XP CD disk, then Boot from it and Reinstall.

guys it’s not easy. I understand everyone saying this… but I have experienced this before. I used linux in the past, before ubuntu and when I want to go back to windows, there’s a problem with the grub that doesn’t let me install windows… I do have it so it can read the cd first, but it sayss somethign like Strike F1 to retry boot, etc. It doesn’t read the cd
I’ve been using Ubuntu (I like it!!) but now I want to go back to windows vista as a dual boot but I can’t install windows… its not reading any of the windows copies… (xp, vista)

Hey Oscar, hope I’m not too late
I had the same problem, and I solved it by creating a new version of windows XP with the SATA drivers installed… see this link:
http://www.digitgeek.com/how-to-slipstream-sata-drivers-into-xp-cd/
note also that when they say to select the drivers, make sure you only select the ones that match your computer (like desktop or mobile…)
