I was playin online when somebody said they hacked me.?

April 3rd, 2008 · 7 Comments

Okay so I was playing this game online I was really bored.
And someone said they found my IP address. And said that he can see all my files and software. I tryed to say not do do anything but he wouldn't listen. Then he started listing the numbers of my adress. (I think it was wrong) But still I mean what can he do?
He also said he was doing it to steal my credit card number and sell it. (I DONT HAVE NO DAMN CREDIT CARD.) I didn't tell him that tho.
I'm kind of worried to tell you the truth.

But my question is…Do yall think he can harm my pc?
And if so, how?
Is there software's that can help prevent hackers?

[[No smart remarks/comments please]]
Be mature.
All very good answers. Yeah i'm not worried anymore and it was just like on of those small games nothing really big. And on top of that I only saw him for like maybe a minute or two.
But either way thanks for all the help everyone.

      ok listen
i give out my ip adress all the time ip adresss is just ur adress its like giving out ur home adresss if u give some 1 ur home adress they can't steal from u right. they can't do nothing unless u went on a website and downloaded something from his website or a link he gave u and it had a virus it is or keylogger

no if you are really worried go to ipchicken.com it will tell you what your ip address is compare to what he told you was your ip then decide wheter or not u should be worried. honestly its probably some kids trying to scare you.

no your fine all jerks on video games claim they are hackers and can see you
open up notepad make it big font type something in and tell him to read it to you, if he can then hes really a hacker if not hes another of the liars
the chances of a real hacker that is stupid enough to admit to it and possibly go to jail for awhile it really unlikely
you may want a good firewall just t be sure
      get zone alarm free
      get it from http://www.downloads.com

Um one is that no one can hack you through you IP adress so your Identity is safe. He probably has you as a friend on his list in the game so find your status option and put it on offline. You probably just got punked and the next time it happens ask him about a specific file in your pc If he replies with a file that is bogus you should just ignore him or /mute him. Don't get scared when someone says something like that just unplug your computer from the internet and stay of the game for a few minutes try to avoid this person in the future. Report him to your online game site ever online game has one.

It's unlikely that he was able to do anything. He's probably lying.

"Hacking" a computer requires knowing a lot more than an IP address.

If your modem is new or you have a router on your network, it's even less likely that he could "hack" your system, since a router doesn't let anyone on the network see your computers or even know your computers exist.

Just make sure your system is up-to-date.

Sounds to me like all he/she did was manage to scare you. Lets face it, who trolls the game sites looking to find people randomly to hack?

IF someone wanted to hack your computer they would only do it if they knew that there was something of value there in the first place. There is no point in hanging around gaming sites looking for someone to hack. It's mostly young people there anyway.

IP addresses are like a$$holes. Everyone has one and it's easy enough to find out someone's IP address. Every email you send out, every chat message you engage in, every thing you do online is dependent upon your IP address.

The bottom line is, don't worry about it. If you are that concerned then download and install one of the free ZoneAlarm products. They are personal firewalls that will block unsolicited attempts to connect to your computer. Check the link below to learn more and to download a copy. Click the one on the right side of the screen for the free download version. It works great.

No dude. You're not hacked. But just in case install some kind of security system in your hard drive. I use avast its great. If he tries to send some sort of link DO NOT OPEN IT. a lot of kids who claim they are hackers like to find viruses to send to computers just for the heck of it. and just because he knows your ip address means nothing. an ip number is just there for police to track if you do something wrong. dont worry dude. you're alright. :]
