IE and Mozilla Browsers handle JavasScript forms differently. Code only works with FireFox.?

May 5th, 2008 · 1 Comment

With the following code using multiple Images for submit, I successfully add a record with a quantity of 1 with FF and a quantity of 2 with IE. Apparently, JavaScript works differently with IE forms.

<!–Dynamic Form Method Post–>

<form method="post" name="ProdID101" action="addlibr.asp">
<input TYPE="hidden" NAME="PRODUCT_ID" VALUE="ProdID101" />
<input type="hidden" name="attr1" value="" />
<input type="hidden" name="QUANTITY" value="1" />

<!–Submit with Image Button and JavaScript–>

<input type="image" src="buttons/buyme.gif" name="Input1" onClick="javascript:this.form.attr1.value='122';this.form.submit()">

<input type="image" src="buttons/buyme.gif" name="Input2" onClick="javascript:this.form.attr1.value='123';this.form.submit()">
</form>
The onClick line looks like this:

onClick="javascript:this.form.attr1.value='122';this.form.submit()"
Yahoo's filters are blocking the code because it contains form and submit.

value='122';this.form.submit()"

      The onclick attribute already implies javascript; so, you don't need to put "javascript:" in the onclick attribute.
