if norton finds a virus in a file you allowed access to does it block it?

k so i was browsing the internet and i wanted to watch a video, a trailer to a movie, it said i needed to install some litevideocodec or something similar so when norton asked to allow access i said yes then it blocked a high risk virus…is my computer still safe? the thing i allowed access to isn’t located in my add/remove hardware folder
keep in ming i know nothing about computers lol

      No, it doesn’t. If you override Norton, you are on your own.

      That’s why, when downloading in Internet Explorer, you should never use the RUN Button, instead “always” use the SAVE Button. Then, scan each downloaded file before you attempt to install it.

      TIP: This is also why Firefox doesn’t have a RUN Button, and is safer to use than IE.
