When I try to open the .EXE files, it says "this is a Windows application that was downloaded from the internet- are you sure you want to open it?". I click "yes" and then it opens as a bunch of jibberish letters/numbers/characters in TextEdit. What's going wrong?
I have the latest version of Mac OS X/Leopard. Any help would be much appreciated.
UPDATE: I TRIED DOWNLOADING USING SAFARI (NOT FIREFOX, AS USUAL), AND IT WORKED! STILL, THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS.

Your Mac OS doesn't matter. What's happening is exactly what that message is telling you. You CANNOT run .exe files on a Mac, they are Windows Executable files only. You need to find the equivalent in Mac file types to be able to run them. The DMG is not the problem, it is the application that is compressed into the DMG that is the problem, you are trying to download and use Windows-only programs.
If you want to run Windows .exe files, you need to have Windows installed on your Mac, either by using Bootcamp (part of Leopard, which you say you have) to partition your drive and then install a legal copy of the Windows OS on the partition (you have to BUY Windows, it doesn't come with your Mac), or using either Parallels or VMWare Fusion, either of which you also have to buy. Once you have Windows running, you would download the .DMG files and the .exe inside will be installable on the Windows side of things, but not on the Mac OS side.
