I recently bought a Dell desktop with Windows XP, and I'm connected wirelessly to another computer with a Belkin Wireless G router. I'm clearly connected to the internet, but a lot of my programs - AVG 8.0 Free, Digsby, Pokerstars, etc. - all report connectivity problems when trying to update or even use the program! I have even added these programs to the Windows Firewall exceptions list - only to reach the same upsetting result. Can anyone offer any help with this problem?
It is through another PC - an eMachines with Windows Vista - that has the actual router and modem attached to it. How do I "open ports" on the other firewall?

Are you connecting to the internet directly via the router, or via the other PC first?
If you are connecting via the other PC you'll need to open ports on that PCs firewall as well.
