okay, so the other day I started getting popups, I'm pretty sure someone in my family went to a certain type of website. Anyway most of the popups are from Internet Explorer 7. The problem is… I've uninstalled it, and somehow, the popups are still coming from that browser. I have check the all programs list, as well as the change/remove programs list. It is not there. The popups are incredibly annoying, and the missing browser is confusing me a lot. Another mystery is that for some reason when this started, I've been able to go to the google homepage, but when I type in a search, nothing happens. I can also explore the rest of google, but it won't allow me to go to the download page of the toolbar. I wouldn't be so freaked out if it were doing the same thing to other search engines, but ask .com and yahoo work fine. Just a solution to one of these mysteries would be great. Thanks.
Also, I have AVG and it has removed about 15 trojans from my computer, and that is all its detected, but every day it removes more trojans.

Download and run firefox to protect your computer from future spyware attacks and pop ups which are coming in through internet explorer (Trojan downloaders, win32 ).Browser attacks aren't easy to spot because they piggyback on legitimate traffic that doesn't exhibit many obvious warning signs

First of all please have a look at this earlier Q.
Internet Explorer cannot be completely removed
and still have Windows work….and when you say
you uninstalled it ….you haven't.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Al5yaOPoS9XGNSvVaV4m2qjty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080719132116AA7SnU9&show=7#profile-info-uBEe9T7waa
If you uninstall IE7 all that happens is it reverts
to IE6 ….so what you have done is to put on an
unsafe browser which may not be security patched……..
I would suggest you d/load IE7 and and make
sure you have all microsoft updates downloaded.
This may well put an end to all the pop-ups.
If you do not want to use IE7 just follow the
directions in the answer above.
