There is one that say its NOT the cd, only the activation code. Will I have had to already purchased Kaspersky in a store to be able to bid on that particular one b/c I have never used this brand before? I was looking at another sellers item and it stated "The software can be download from www.kaspersky.com. and I will send you the letter for activation code and install instruction." I'm confused on which one I should bid on. Oh, also it said I would have to remove any other virus protection I have already, is this true? THanks!!!
Thx for the bay headsup. He emailed me back and "This is for a new version of the software so you do not need to have a previous version. We will send you a link to download and activate the software as a new program on your PC." The seller has 100% positive since he started in Jan of 07' so it seems legit to me. We'll see how it goes, I may just fork over a little more $ and buy it in the store.

The seller is trying to tell you that it's possible to download the trial version of the website from Kaspersky's official website, which is true. He also mentioned that you'd have to uninstall any other virus protection you have… that's just to prevent the two programs from detecting false positives if they're based on signature detection. I would take his advice, but I wouldn't recommend buying key codes online.

Be aware that if you pay by Paypal, you are not protected for intangible items, services, or any other type virtual goods. You can view this by going to Paypal.com, Scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Legal Agreements" then under Agreement for all Users, select user agreement and go to Section 13.8. It states, and I quote
13.8 What items are not covered by PayPal’s Protection for buyers?
PayPal's protection for buyers only applies to payments for tangible, physical goods that can be shipped. Payments for intangibles, services, custom made items, airline flight tickets, eBay classified advertisements, items prohibited under our Acceptable Use Policy or licenses and other access to digital content are not eligible under PayPal’s protections for buyers.
So be aware of scams.
As far as your question goes, I would think you could download trial software and then activate with a valid code. But chances are they'll give you a bogus code or one that only works for a limited amount of time, afterward there is nothing you can do.
