I was using Norton 360 when i got to the point were i HATE it (thats not the point of the question) so i decided to remove it but i want everything out even the left over files i want it all gone! ALL.. i got two problems=>
1.
so i went to search and typed norton, symantec, all that good stuff but everything so far so good , now theres one little stupid file i cant delete it its under symantec shared folder and it says as follows
Can not delete AlertEng.dll: Access is denied
make sure disk is not full or write protected and that they are not in use(which there not)
Anyways i hate that how do i delete that dumb disturbing file?

Also in add or remove program files menu in windows xp theres a file cant get rid of its called "liveupdate notice"(symantec corp.)
it says as follows when i try to remove program
Your are attemptimg to uninstall a program that is required for other symantec products to run on your pc. you are unable to remove this program at this time.

in sorry mate. norton is a horrible program to remove and that right there, that is why i refuse to get it. i will take viruses over THAT.you can try booting up into safe mode and removing that file and such. not sure if it will let you. if that doesnt work you can download and burn the live ISO for fedora 8 and from the live cd you can access your windows files with windows not running and can delete anything out of it you want.

o.k you might be uninstalled your norton360 but there are some file or settings left over.where did you remove your Norton? in windows add or remove or in wizard.the best thing to do now is-reinstall your anti-virus then delete the files you cant delete before and then uninstall it again it might be too long process but try it if does not work maybe you have to do a system restore how to do a system restore go to start-all programs-accessories - system tools and system restore just select the date you want to restore your computer and wait for it to restore.so i hope it help you and thats it goodbye i am johnlawrence from philippines so long!

there is a program you can download from symantec/norton website called norton removal tool it scan for and removes all traces of all norton products which are all junk. The removal tool is the only piece of software norton ever did well lol.
