In my list of programs installed I have two Java updates installed, can I uninstall one?

September 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment

My Java versions are listed as this:
Java (TM) 6 update 4
Java (TM) 6 update 7

Can I uninstall the “update 4″ safely?

      Dana-
What I do in this situation is remove version 7, then remove version 4. That will remove all the “updates” first to version 7, then remove the core version 4. Then, download the latest version from http://www.java.com and now you’ll only have the one version in Add/Remove Programs.

However, I will warn you …the next time Java releases a new version, you’ll be doing this all over again, forever. Best to just leave it alone unless you’re having problems with Java :)

      Hope this helps :)
