Installing Avast on a Vista laptop?

I previously installed this on my mom’s desktop PC; download the file to desktop area, click it, and it installs the program for Avast, and then the little blue circles are in my right bottom corner of the windows bar…she had windows XP

My bf has a laptop running Vista, and when I download “setupeng” file to my desktop on this, there is a little windows shield thing; I click the thing to install the program like on my mothers computer, but the two blue balls never get down to the right hand side. I try to then click the “Avast” icon (and that also has a little windows shield-on my mom’s pc this never happened) and put in my registry key to finish set up, and it tells me the key is invalid.

I notice there is an option when I right click either the setupeng or Avast! icons, which both have that shield, that says “run as administrator”

Can anyone tell me what is up with my system and why this damn thing won’t install!?!!?? thanks in much advance!!!
