Installing itunes on Windows Vista? Launch Application?

I'm trying to install itunes on my new laptop that has windows vista. The first loading thing is succesful but when I click on the link in the downloaded window it says "This link needs to be opened with an application. And then it says choose application and when I click on it it brings up a menu type thing like when you open My Computer. Im not sure how to explain it but Im not very good with computers and I don't know what it means by "application"

Go to My Computer,left click on "C" and find "program files".Find your download, open it and click on the "exe" and this should open the program and put a short-cut on the desk-top.
Failing this, look in the " my down-loads folder."
