installing older version of windows xp?

I just bought a computer at a company auction.It has windows xp service pack 2 on it.I want to wipe everything out and start over.I have a windows xp cd,but when i put it in it tells me my current version is newer than the one im installing and wont let me install it.Can anyone tell me how to install it.

      You can't install windows while you are already running windows. You have to boot to that CD.

      put the xp cd into the drive and then turn the pc off, then restart with the disc already in, it should say press any key to boot from cd, press a key and follow the instructions, if it still boots up normally you need to go into the bios and set the first boot device to cd rom and hard drive as second and try again with the xp disc already in the drive
