My current Windows XP Pro isn't legit and my computer is having constant problems. I recently bought a legit copy of Windows XP Home Edition and i want to uninstall my current windows and install the one i just bought.
Do i first uninstall windows XP then install my new copy?
What do i need to do?
Also, the current disk that Windows is installed on is only like 9GB and i've always had problems with it filling up.
When i install my new copy can i do it on another one with more space?

You have to format your computer in order to install XP Home Ed. Please backup all your files in the C: drive before doing the format.

First boot from the XP home cd, then choose install, which will give you the option to format the disk which you will do, and then it will install the XP Home.

Yes, you need to uninstall your Windows XP Pro. This is what you gotta do. First, go to BIOS setup by either pressing continuous delete or F1 key. After that, change the boot device priority of your PC to CD/DVD ROM then save changes. Insert your Windows XP H.E. CD then perform FORMAT with your HD to remove the XP PRO installations, after that you may proceed with WIndows H.E. setup. Just follow the instructions until the setup is finished. After Windows XP H.E. setup, dont forget to install the hardware drivers of your PC.

i think u will have a problem downgrading operating systems microsoft made it to where u can only upgrade not downgrade.but usually applies when going to from xp to vistia or 2000 to xp.but it can be down with partition magic.if this works u will have to change the boot squence as the previous person that answered stated.i would use a drivescrubber though the windows seems a little big vistia isnt even 10 gigs but i may be wrong.i would a drivescrubber to asure u have a clean sweep easier than format with a cmd prompt.system mechanics has this program built in u can get it at download.com it is only a trial program but it will do the job.i use this program myself it does work if u use this program u may not even need partition magic.
