Intelligent Design claims the speed of light has been slowing down. How do computers work if its not constant?

June 18th, 2008 · 10 Comments

Here's a link with data saying the speed of light is slowing down,
http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs2002/0809_cdk_davies.asp

So, how do computers function then - since they are designed based on the principle that the speed of light is a constant?

Hopefully intelligent design also says the rate at which you are asking questions about it will slow down.

      LMAO

      Ohhh
      Thank you….

I teared up there. Oh I needed a good laugh…..

Okay, now what REALLY made me laugh is that you are expecting a logical answer to a scientific question from people who put a saddle on a triceratops and called it historical fact.

light are particles any moving particle will slow down because of friction, then the light becomes matter clumbs together and forms stars and planets and animals. I really dont see what this has to do with computer functioning they run on electricity as far as i know.

      OMIGOD………..

I will never cease to be amazed at the lengths some people will go to in order to preserve their ignorance.

This article is, from a scientific standpoint, a total load of crap. Here's why.

This article is based on the assumption that the Universe has only been around for a few thousand years. It calls the speed of light into account precisely because it would take longer than that for most of the starlight visible in the sky to reach Earth. It is making the assumption that the Bible is entirely, factually correct in it's "history" of the Universe as a whole, which in turn ignores many fundamental truths we know about our world (carbon dating and the speed of light being among them).

Here's why computers still work: the speed of light is constant. It always has been. It can be affected (sort of) by certain solar bodies that have strong gravity, such as black holes, that disallow the escape of light, but it cannot be slowed down.

In the end, Intelligent Design is just another word for Creationism, which between the two they tried to name it Scientific Creationism. This "data," though I severely hesitate to even use that word in this case, is flawed because it ignores natural law in favor of a book written by men who had no understand of that law.

And before you go on a Religion Rant Binge against me, consider that I never once claimed that God is fake, or religion is stupid, or that the Bible isn't a great spiritual guide. But in the end, the only thing we can know is what we can prove, and the Bible (and everything in it) was still written by men ignorant of science. Using it as a basis, and a very definite apparently immutable, infallible basis at that, for any kind of scientific theory is fundamentally flawed.

      Bottom Line:
You need to learn more about every discipline before you pass judgments on any of them. I have read The Bible cover to cover; I have studied physics, biology, chemistry, and psychology; I am a computer technician; and I have read every New Age and Old World religious book I can find. I am not ignorant, nor should you be.

It does? Great buckets of theocratic doo doo Batman!! I for one intend to continue to use 3 x10 to the power of 8 meters per second for my daily calculations! I'd advise all you kids to do the same or risk missing Mars by a scoosh or two in 2030!

Intelligent Design is completely different from those "young-earth cults". ID uses accepted science, such as symbiosis. Many unrelated species have associations for their mutual survival - such as bees and flowers. Animals take in oxygen and give off carbon dioxide; plants take in carbon dioxide and give off oxygen.
