try running defrag on the computer

Sounds like the DNS on that computers' TCP/IP stack might be a little fubared.
If this is XP do the following
click start -> run
Type cmd and press return
at the > prompt type ipconfig /flushdns
type exit and try your web pages again.
If that doesn't fix it, try the following
Run a cmd prompt again and type:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
reboot and try again.

Hey there!
I`m not sure if this will help ya, but we`ll give it a try…
I have this kind of problems `till some weeks ago, i was opening various websites, but it was looking like the server was down, then i would hit F5 and the page would load normally. And this was happening randomly sometimes more often than other.
So i`ve googled for a few hours and i`ve managed to fix the problem: it seems i had some broken registry entries or something. I used WinsockxpFix, a free program that saved me a lot of time and nerves!
p.s. use some sort of backup first (although this app will backup 4 u… but u`ll never know)!

Before making any alternations to your "new laptop" … check aside if the problem is issued by your internet.. pick up internet signal at another wireless spot and browse those websites, … if it does work, then it could be your home internet router…
