I've used yahoo search, google search, and msn search. Once I click on a link that the search engine provides, it instead redirects me through a site "x-max.net" and it takes me to a page that does not resemble what I had clicked on previously. However, if I physically type in the web address instead of just clicking on the search result, it takes me directly to the site I want. Is there a third party redirecting me? Possible virus? Anyone have any similar experiences? (I have XP professional)

Yup. Third party indeed.
At least it's not worse than what i had before.
I just needed to open a certain type of file, then my PC would suddenly shut down.
Dmn, that totally destroyed my power source.
Just get a sweeper, that oughta fix it.

Sounds like some foreign program has taken over your PC.
Click on your tool bar. Click Internet Options and see what you have for a home address. Type in http://www.msn.com and see if it will accept it. Either way, you'll need to get an antivirus program to fix the hidden problem.
