What are the pros and cons of Firefox and Internet Explorer?
I'm thinking about switching to Firefox, but first I want to know about it.
I don't want any biased opinions!!! Just the pros ad cons of Internet Explorer and Firefox.
Can I use them both, and, if so, would it slow my computer down?
And DO NOT give me an answer like "Firefox rocks, IE sucks!" Or anything that doesn't involve pros and cons.

Firefox is I find to be a little faster than ie. IE also tends to attract viruses more easily than firefox and is less customizable. Its fine to run both, I would use both for a period of time and then decide, because everyone has different tastes.

Ive used both actually before IE7 came out i used firefox exclusively then switched back to IE7. Anyway you can use both without problems IE7 is supported by all websites, but it is also targeted by spyware and viruses. Firefox is more secure but not all websites work with it. hope this helps

You can use both.
Explorer really has no pros other than most people use it and it is most popular with all websites because microsoft created it.
Firefox on the other hand is better because it isnt as popular as explorer so hackers and viruses dont focus on breaking into your computer when using it. Also firefox has features that scans websites before you enter to make sure that it is safe. ONe draw back is that things look different when using firefax vrs when veiwed by explorer.
I use both depending one what it is I am trying to look at or do on the computer.
hope that helped

Firefox is created by developers that could be anyone in the world.
They will find floors as it is an open source software it allows everyone to contribute, thus making a very good piece of software. It has all the features that you need and also by far the most secure, this program is preferred by most who know about it.
Microsoft is developed and tested by their staff only, as with all their software included in their operating system it is the most basic software possible, with many people hating Microsoft and most viruses created to bypass IE's security therefore that is why Firefox is best.

Pros: Firefox
1) It is opensource which means patches for bugs come quicker
2) FF3 is quicker then IE
3) It is a lot Safer then IE (look at security fixes)
4) You can customize FF and you can't IE
5) It got a better rating on an ACID test then IE(test for internet compatability)
IE Pros:
Honestly I can't think of one, I really don't like it. It used to be faster then FF2 but FF3 fixed the memory problem.
You can also check out the Opera web browser if you wish.

Firefox Pros:
- Free
- Far fewer security risks
- More customizable
- Better support for web standards (if you don't know what these are, they are standards for how web pages should be written, so that you are actually ALLOWED to choose a browser, and aren't stuck with one).
- Available for almost any operating system. If you switch to OS X or Linux, you don't have to learn a new browser.
Firefox cons:
- Not included with Windows
- Some sites do not follow web standards, and thus might not be viewable in Firefox.
- Non-native widgets, so it looks a little different from other Windows or OS X apps.
Internet Explorer pros
- It's included with Windows
- Most sites include a non-compliant page so that IE users don't have to bother switching.
Internet Explorer cons:
- It can't be removed from Windows
- Numerous security holes
- Can't render web pages properly
Yes, Firefox can be installed at the same time as IE. In fact, it is almost impossible to get rid of IE, so being able to use them both is a sad necessity (for running on Windows).

These are the pros
Firefox : faster, good plugins, good control on download process, easy to restore all connection when the program accidentally closed
IE : good on cookies control, good on multi task works.
Note : you might see different display between firefox and IE and the other browser (opera, safari, netscape).
IE is more fat than firefox
