IPod Touch as a Backup?

I just got the Ipod Touch for my birthday (yay!) and I’ve heard that you can kind of use it as a USB.
On the classic ipod the icon pops up on the desktop or somewhere but not for the ipod touch, it only shows up in itunes.
So how (on a Dell PC) can I back up my music by putting a folder on it (I know that you can’t listen to the songs that way)
