I got a Dell laptop a couple of months ago and for the most part it’s been great. Except that a couple of weeks ago it started to slow WAY down after I got some new multi-media software. Now I am back to using Cyberlink Powercinema but it doesn’t work like it did when I got the laptop.
One of the error messages that keeps coming up most often when I try and use this is a message about _usercap.dll. I don’t know what this file is and I don’t know if I should delete it or not. Can somebody tell me what these means?

If you have the CyberLink home media software on your computer, you probably don’t want to remove this.

Hi, I also use PowerCinema and I think it’s great. _usercap.dll is one of its files and by itself it shouldn’t be giving you any problems.
It’s possible that the software you used there for a minute did something to this file–in fact it’s very likely. Or at least a program associated with the other software may have, if your multi-media software was free ware.
A lot of freeware is supported by adware programs which display pop-up ads on your computer. These programs sometimes corrupt .dll entries, and sometimes even name their own files under the names of actual legitimate ones.
Or it’s possible that this file isn’t pointing to the right place. Really, there are a few other things it could be but those don’t matter; all you need to do is get a registry scanner/cleaner to fix things up. My favorite is RegZooka, and they offer free software to do a scan of your computer. Check it out http://regzooka.com .
