Is a AVG's "Warning" a virus?

May 14th, 2008 · 6 Comments

I mean I scanned my computer with AVG Anti-Virus 8 and the results showed no infections and no spyware, but it showed some "warnings" which look like this:

C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\myname@atdmt[1].txt
or
C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\myname@atdmt[1].txt:\atdmt.com.b3e33b5f.

So are these viruses or just some cookies stored into my computer by the websites I'm surfing on?

Thanks.
The path is something like this: C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\myname@atdmt[1].txt:\atdmt.com.b3e33b5f
C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\myname@atdmt[1].txt:\atdmt.com.b3e33b5f
The path is something like this:
C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\
+ Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\
+ myname@atdmt[1].txt:\
+ atdmt.com.b3e33b5f.
So is it just a cookie?

do you have the whole path of the file that gave a warning? It might be nothing, but having the whole path would be a big help.

Those are probably cookies. They are trying to get you to upgrade to their other packages from the free version, because those would clear out tracking cookies.

I think a warning is not that bad.
