Is a Quad Core/dual core processor compatible with Windows XP Home?

June 14th, 2008 · 7 Comments

Hi, I was thinking about getting a quad core/dual core processor but, I was wondering if it would be recognized in video games, programs or even start up if I were to get one. The version is 5.1.2600. Thank you.

Yes, however, only on the 64bit Edition. Make sure you don't get 32bit, which is the standard.

Yes, it is. I used to have a Toshiba Satellite with a Pentium 4 HT CPU (had 2 processing cores) and it worked with Windows XP Home Edition. However, a video game will take advantage of multi-core technology if it is supported by the game itself (otherwise it will run only in one core)

a quadcore is automatically 64bit capable … but you can easily use XP 32 bit operating system for wonderful performance …. go ahead and do it if your board supports quadcore processors

that funny , your joken right . the minum reguriment for xp is 233mz procersser or a pentuim 3 processer . 64 mb ram and 32mb graphic card . so yeah you deffently met requirement . more like blow them out of the water. i sergest using pro xp 64 bit version with a processor like that. this will aloud you to take full advage of the prossecer full compastitely . while home 32bit version will only give about 20 - 40% of what the prosseccer is truly capalbe of. expelly if your using it foe gaming . and yeah it good for gamming. and five time more then that . currently it he best prosecer on the mark it .
