Okay, I’ve got some messages on my computer, and I don’t know if they’re real or if they’re from bad guys. Can you help?
A window claiming it’s “Online Security Scanner” popped up and is scanning my harddrive. It says it needs to download Antivirus 2009. It says, “Online Security Scanner requires Antivirus 2009 components to repair your computer. Please click OK to download and install Antivirus 2009 components.”
It says my computer has been infected with SPYWARE, and has found 23 errors on my computer so far.
I was just surfing when this happened. It’s so true that my computer is not protected properly, I’ve been too lax.
So can you tell me if I should click “OK” or if I should try to get away from these windows?
Thank you!!!! (I’m currently typing on my spouse’s computer, not mine)

It’s a virus/spyware. Immediately download a legit AV program and run it.

Antivirus 2009 is a fake, it pretends to scan your PC but just gives you fake results saying you are infected when you are not just to scare you into buying there software.
How to remove Fake Software, Spyware, Trojans and Viruses:
Download, install, update and scan your computer with both SuperantiSpyware and Malwarebytes, delete what ever they find, if this fails to completely remove the virus/spyware download then update Avast and run a boot scan (click schedule boot-time scan and restart your PC), all the software below is free and safe to use.
SuperantiSpyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/
Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
To protect your PC in the future you need to use anti-virus software and a firewall, id recommend using Avast and Comodo Pro firewall both are very effective and completely free, you should also switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE as its much safer. (links on my profile)

It’s a fake program. If you are getting alerts then you are already infected with the Zlob Trojan.
How to Remove Trojan.Zlob
Download, Install and Update MBAM
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe
Download SmitFraudFix
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe
Scan with SmitFraudFix and Select the Search option. Now boot into Safe Mode. and run SmitFraudFix again but instead of selecting the ‘Search’ option, select the ‘Clean’ option. When it asks if you would like to clean the registry, select yes. Scan with Malwarebytes, also.
How to Boot into Safe Mode
1. Restart your computer
2. Press F8 as many times as possible
3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4. Select the option to run Windows in Safe Mode.
5. When you are at the logon prompt, log in as normal
