Is it possible for Norton 360 to scan an External HDD for Viruses before I transfer the files to my Laptop?

October 1st, 2008 · 1 Comment

Im using Windows Vista and I have an External 40GB Hard Drive. Id like to transfer the files on the Hard Drive to my Laptop Hard Drive, but Id like Norton 360 to scan it before I do so. If possible..

Thank you for any feedback, it is much appreciated.

You should have an icon or listing in the Start menu to run a virus scan (or an icon near your clock). Start the scan, and select that you want to scan the external drive.

If you do NOT have scan the drive first, the way Norton (and 99% of all virus scanners) works, it will automatically scan any file you access. So if you were to simply copy the files, Norton would scan them before doing the copy automatically, as the copy command is considered to be "accessing" the file(s).
