I installed new chipset drivers and windows done automatic updates ever since then I cannot turn on my pc it just runs in a boot loop starting up restarting etc, I have taken the hard drive out, made it into an external hdd and can access all my files through my laptop.
Is there a way to remove the last updates, i cannot do a system restore because I had just installed Vista so there is no restore point available
I let it shut down installing updates I think, or I installed the chipset drivers then restarted to complete installation. But it never came back on. I get a couple options start windows normally, safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good configuration, none work.
Using safe mode i get the loading bar then a blue screen. last known good configuration and start windows normally just restarts the computer.
I have tried using the Vista disc and repairing the computer, in the startup error finder section it says a patch is preventing windows from starting

Does it restart because it finished installing the updates or did it restart because you got a blue screen? But anyways,
If your PC is a factory-made e.g. HP, Dell ect..
Use the recovery discs you created or got with it. There should be a system repair utility. This will fix the system files which are causing the boot loop.
You could always go through your hard drive and backup the files you need and perform a system recovery.

You could try booting up into Safe Mode. (Press F8, repeatedly, when you first switch on your computer.)
Try removing the latest updates then via Control Panel.

I rather doubt it. The uninstall packages (in C:\Windows) assume the current machine's Registry and directories. Trying to run one on another machine could wreck the host machine.
You should be able to turn off the reboot loop by setting the No Auto Reboot option near the bottom of the Safe Mode boot up screen. Start pressing the F8 key on and off as soon as the machine starts booting to get to it.
Also, if you haven't already, try booting to Last Good Configuration.
Hope that helps.
