It costs more than other AV/AS software. I could either renew Windows Live OneCare, which also has a firewall, but I hear it's not as good. Should I just spend more on Kaspersky and use Windows Firewall?
Which one is better? I'm just a home user but I download a lot and visit lots of web sites.
To clarify, I want antivirus AND antispyware as well as a firewall, but I don't want too many apps to work with (one or two maximum) and I want the fastest updating stuff to keep secure. I am using Vista Business. I hear Kaspersky updates faster, is better, and upgrades are free. I hear Windows Live OneCare is not very good at protecting your comp. I would like for the apps to go easy on resources, but that's not the highest priority. More like #2 or 3. So what is a better solution? Kaspersky 7 AV + Windows Firewall (or another freeware firewall you know of) or Windows Live OneCare?
I don't need Tune up because I have CCleaner and Auslogics Defrag.
My computer has 2 GB of RAM and runs at 2.00GHZ with a dual core processor. Will that be enough to run Kaspersky without any noticable slowdowns?
Also, I hear a lot that free antivirus software is never as good or as quickly updated or has as many definitions as paid ones such as Kaspersky. Is this true? To what extent? I don't want to depend on an AV and Windows Defender for Vista only to find that I get a virus anyway!

If u r clever u will not need an anti-spyware because ccleaner deletes all the cookies that cause spyware.

Why pay? Windows has a built in firewall which works pretty good and is FREE. eep in mind that everyone of these things is either free of charge or open source. That also means that the updates are free. Running the software with out the updates is the same as not running it at all. In addition to anti-virus software, you should also have anti-spyware software.
You should use more than one anti-spyware package because there is no one spyware package that will detect everything. Each one will pick up things that the others miss. Part of this is based on what gets submitted to the people who make the software which in turn is based on what the users encounter. There are so many that its hard to create a comprehensive list of everything out there that spies on you.
When you're done, be sure to go to Windows Update and apply ALL of the patches. Don't just run the "Express" updates. Run "Custom" and pick all of the software that's available to you. It make take several times before you no longer have patches. Once that's done, be sure to turn on your automatic updates. For Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306525. For Vista - http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/updates/faq.mspx
Make sure that you're not running a cracked version of Windows or other software packages. Software doesn't get cracked for the benefit of humanity. It gets cracked because a hacker somewhere wants you run his software on your computer. That means he can use your computer to serve porn and send spam. Or capture your user names and passwords for identity theft.

The best thing you can do is check all software that you place in that Windows Vista as it no longer support many XP programs, as for me I use Kaspersky for Scans but I use Spyware Search and Destroy that inmunizes you from attacks. The reason for not having an antivirus that is constantly using too many resources is your computer slows down. Kaspersky is worth the prize however personally I use AVG that is lightweight albeit you take more risk because it is not as aggresive in real time scan as Kaspersky, If you have a VERY FAST computer then Kaspersky is very good.
as well Antivir From Avira is an option, this one is very aggresive against viruses. I suggest to compare prices and features because what is good for somebody may not be good for another.

It sounds like you are keeping your computer in good shape. Kaspersky 7 is definitely worth the money I have been using it for 2 years and it is the best in everything e.g. Security, performance and reliability etc. It does not cause conflict with third party applications unlike Symantec products, and it does what it says on the box. To be completely honest with you I would wait for Kaspersky 8 because it’s only a few months (I think) till it gets officially released, unless they clearly state that you are eligible to a complete (and I am going to repeat the word “complete”) upgrade to the software with all its features because everyone wants to get the best for their money. But if you are in a hurry then go for it. If you are still not completely convinced with this answer then do your research and look at the reviews for this product (not only from the manufacturing website) but from other sources especially user feedback. Hope I helped and good luck.
