Recently I have been using Kaspersky Antivirus (not activated) but I have noticed that it made my pc slower. I have an old PC 2.40GHZ. I reinstalled windows and formatted the hard disk and installed an another Antivirus called BitDefender. I used my CD backups to restore some of my files and discovered that there were some viruses which have infected some of my very important files. I was shocked to see that BitDefender could detect some viruses that Kaspersky Antivirus couldn't.Actually I installed BitDefender because it does not slows down my PC very much. SO I thought that BitDefender was better than Kaspersky. But yesterday I went to my cousin's place and I brought my Pendrive with me. I scanned the Pendrive at my place with BitDefender and scanned the same Pendrive at my cousin's place who had Kaspersky Installed in his system. Kaspersky detected 4 Viruses… trojans. Then I was Wondering which one was better Kaspersky or BitDefender…

they all detect different stuff. it just really depends on how quick these companies get their virus definition databases updated with the most current threats out there. I've actually helped a couple of them with that before.

Kaspersky is better than BitDefender but, if it slows down your PC you should use BitDefender… Or you could try another AV, you could use ESET Nod32(a very good AV and it wont slow your pc down)…

I like Bitdefender, but then as internet security program. I used it.
I never used the antivirus on its own.
Like the other answerer said, when you think Kaspersky ( very good program by the way. I used it also) then you should install Bitdefender.
I would suggest however for extra protection to install a few more programs.
Threatfire is an anti virus, that can be installed next to any other anti virus program on the same computer

Threatfire is not an Anti-Virus product of its own. Threatfire is meant to compliment your own Anti-Virus program - sort of like partners. After I installed threatfire I almost never see any problems with Viruses or have any attacks on my computer. You can check the Internet for yourself, but personally I wouldn’t be without it.

actually both bitdefender and kaspersky identify cracks and keygens as trojans so it could be that one identified files that the other couldn’t and vice versa and yeah kaspersky does slow down the system when scanning unlike BD and you get the feeling that its online security is not up to date with the number of viruses affecting my PC.
