We just got a new computer and my sister just installed Limewire on it. I’ve heard stories about Lime-wire being unsafe because it can give your computer viruses. We have Norton 360. If these stories about Lime-wire are true, will Norton 360 protect my computer from any of these viruses?

I would recommend Kaspersky anti virus, but if Norton is your only option than it should be OK. don't trust ANYTHING you download that ends with anything like:
.exe
.bat
.ini
.vbs
.com
.cmd
.shb
.shs
.shx
.zip
.rar
which all are very commen and easy to weave a virus into or malware into.
always scan what you download, and install PeerGuardian2 or Protowall to stop people port scanning you and finding out what's on your computer.

It should but your right limewire is unsafe. Every time I download a group of songs on my computer, my computer picks up a trojan downloader and cleans it.

Short answer No, long answer Maybe.
Norton protect you against “most” virus.. But what if you get a virus that’s not listing with norton?.. You will still be infected.

Limewire will only give you viruses if you are gullible enough to download malicious/fake files. File formats to look out for are probably .exe’s. Personally myself i never download .exe’s via Limewire. Only use it to download songs.
Another thing to take note, there are trojan/virus infected songs. Usually make sure the song you are downloading is in .mp3 format and that it has a bitrate. Songs without bitrates are the nasties.
