Is McAfee any good for trojans?

November 21st, 2008 · 2 Comments

I might start using Limewire and I have McAfee. Will this get rid of some trojans and viruses? Is it good enough?

McAffee isn’t much good for anything. It’s a horrible resource hog. There is good freeware availble that works better than McAfee or Norton.

The chances are you will still get malware because there are no sure-proof protection or scan. If you really want to protect your computer, then the responsibility lies with you, because you're the best defence and the first line too, and that means stop using or avoiding P2P programs, and adopt better surfing habits. Really, it goes back to the old saying "You can't have your cake and eat it"

If you do ever get infected, then try Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and it's free to use. You can spend a few quids on it and you'll get real-time protection.
