hi i have mcafee virusscan plus 8.5i/ pc tools firewall and threatfire. Is this a good combo? does threatfire match up to superantispyware etc. can i have that as my permanent antispyware. Please give me a detailed answer

ThreatFire is uses behavioral analysis instead of signatures. Behavior it is looking for: disable task manager, copy itself to many places in the PC, perform illegal network connections etc.
It's more effective as many malware regardless of types & signatures, perform the same behaviors mentioned above.
PC Tools Firewall seems to be doing an effective job protecting users, if the guys at Matousec are to be believed.
Conclusion: They will go well with your McAfee.

Ok I am not a great fan of McAfee, but that is my opinion, To answer your question. Yes, you can run McAfee Virusscan plus, PC Tools Firewall and Threatfire very well together, I even recommend that kind op cobination of programs.
Threatfire and Superantispyware also go very well together.
I think, that you have a good combination of programs and that your computer is very well protected.
