ok…so I bought a new laptop about 2 months ago, and with it I got Norton Anti-virus…the full whack, for 60 days. But, the time has come for me to decide if I should keep it or not. I’ve been given the McAfee virus scan, but I really dont get how it works…Norton is easy to use, but I’ll have to pay £40 to renew my subscription whereas McAfee is free (got it through uni). What should I do? Plz some gd advice!

Get rid of Norton. It’s a maybe better than OK AV, but it really contaminates your system. It may be impossible to remove, especially if you’ve done a lot of updates or used it extensively.
If you do opt to pay the £40 to renew it and you pay by credit card, they have been known to use your card again the next year without asking or telling you.
AVG AV does a respectable job, but Avast AV, http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html is free and has a good following.

Had Norton same scenario had a heck of a time trying to uninstall it to put in the store bought one. Gave up went to AVG and Comodo Firewall no problem since. Also use Webroot Spy-sweeper (paid)
