i want to be able to download files such as games from sites off the internet but not if it comes with the risk of having to reboot my entire computer bc spyware ruined teh system so is there any type of program that there is that can detect this bc i have mcaffee but ive gotten spyware from downloads before even with mcaffee

well viruses cant work unless opened, so heres what I do (I have Windows Live One Care)
1. I download whatever it is like a song or something
2. NEVER OPEN always save to desktop
3. once saved rightclick and click scan for viruses.
4. if there isnt any w00t. if there is one hopefully it can delete it, if not don't open that file!

I have McAfee too, it can't scan unless the file is already downloaded. You should get the Mozilla Firefox Browser. It scans for viruses before it is ready to be accessed by your computer.

MAKE SURE IT IS A
ZIP
File
because it cant harm you unless it is unziped
so if u scan it before you unzip it and no virsues =) good for u

Can I ask One thing?…
Do you have a Licensed "Anti-Vir"?..or a FREE/Trial one?..
Just because if you have a GOOD "Anti-Vir" in your system those VIRUS or Spy Ware or MalaWare wont be downloaded …
Your "Anti_Vir" will give you a WARNING if you do download a Certain File that is "Corrupted or Virus Infected File"..
Dont believe on a FREE [Anti-Virus] that you can DOwnLoad for FRee on the WEB…
They can't Protect you 100% ..It is not TRUE
As the saying goes "The BEST thing in Life are FREE" not on [Softwares].
Why does this Company that Offers FREE "Anti-Vir" still have their Product be bought in the Market? when you can DownLoad it for FREE???
I had TRIED for several times diferrent Brand of FREE "Anti-Vir" but end up Reformatting my OS..again and again..
Until I BUY a Licensed one and got no Problem since then..
Try "KasperSky/Bit Defender/NoD32" this are one of the BEST "Anti-VIrus" for 2008…
