I'm using firefox right now and I'm getting bored with it, plus it lags a lot. It's not the fastest browser in the world. I'm looking for something with the speed of Avant and Opera, but has the saftey and Java compatiblity of Firefox.
Please don't suggest I keep firefox. You'll be wasting your time. I'm looking for other suggestions than what I already have. Thanks.
Windows XP and DSL connection.

Chances are you're using Firefox 2, and I'd like you to try Firefox 3 RC1 for a few days, with the Fasterfox and Adblock Plus add-ons installed. Just a few days.
The page I'm on right now (writing my reply to your question) loaded in 0.550 seconds. I blinked and it was done.
The speed has been drastically improved, as well as memory management.
It also may be that your computer is bogged down with stuff like programs that start when you start Windows, or a virus, or just general clutter created by programs doing their thing.
Take a look at AVG, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ccleaner and Zonealarm. They're all free, and they all work well.
