May 29th, 2008 · 8 Comments

Because I don't want to waste my money every year just to buy Norton or Spyware stuffs. I'm looking for a free and can use forever without warrant amd I don't want a trial version.

If you help me, I would really appreciate it! ^ ^

try avast, its totally free for home use, its a good anti virus, and you only need to regester…. it will last 18 months on one regestration, and then you just need to re regester and get another code… nothing dodgy about it either, ive used it for years..

      infact, hears a link

      http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

      good luck :-)

go to microsoft.com you can download PC Tools Spyware doctor or you can always got to downloads.com and search for anti-spyware. One more place for you to try is PC magazine. I forgot the web address but I'm sure if you search for it you will find it. :o)

Of course, there is one called AVG 8 Free Edition.
Another one is Avast!4.8 Home Edition
      There is Avira also!

Choose one of the above. They are better than any other AV (except for Avira, whose updates are extremely slow in Free version)

You will find them on link below

The free anti-virus programs are most definitely NOT better than any other. They are passable and decent, but some paid anti-virus programs are so much better. Kaspersky is great, as well as Nod32. Twice as good as the free anti-virus programs, but not without a nominal fee.

Anti-Spyware programs are a different story. AdAware, AVG Anti-Spyware, Spyware Doctor, Spybot Search and Destroy, and SuperAntiSpyware are ALL great FREE anti-spyware programs.

The most important thing, however, is your behavior. If you behave properly, you don’t need any type of anti-spyware or anti-virus programs. The problem is, almost no one on the internet behaves properly these days. In either case, if you aren’t willing to pay, I recommend using one of the aforementioned free anti-virus programs (preferably AVG or Avast) and a couple of the anti-virus programs (one of which will be actively blocking spyware, as well as to run full scans of your computer AT LEAST once a month. The second will be used for a secondary full spyware scan along with the first.)

Also, you should watch your behavior. Do not click links in your email. If you want to go to a URL someone (even someone you know) has sent you, type the URL out in the address bar.

Be VERY CAREFUL about downloading anything. You should make absolute sure that it is safe.

Some websites can infect your computer by using ActiveX controls, so also be very careful about what ActiveX controls you allow when surfing.
