& do you know if/how I can back up my WHOLE hard drive & files online for free or small fee? I had this computer for 2 yrs., & I'm on a fixed income. Quite poor person.
How do I do it? I'm also worried that if I uninstall & then reinstall the system, then I wouldn't be able to have wi-fi. Or will I still have it?
The computer says I have Trojan.Zlob infection & other malware, & I get Error Code 19 in the registry. It won't let me restore my computer, & neither will it let me reboot in safe mode. My computer is slow, & the DVD+RW drive is missing & corrupted. I'm very afraid. Any free or cheap way to fix this problem?
I have Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop with Windows XP. I can't even put in the CD to reinstall the OS because the DVD+RW drive is gone, & it won't read anything.
Also, my computer is VERY slow. I think the reason why I got all these infections because my Norton Antivirus was close to expiring, & now I'm glad to have Avast.
Is there any way I can fix all these problems "without" having to uninstall & reinstall my OS?

You could spend hours trying to get this Dell running with no success. Reinstalling the operating system is your best option.
Fortunately you do not have to use the CD to restore you laptop to its original state. Do a restart and hold down the Ctrl + F11 buttons at the same time - this will take you into a destructive restore.

This Microsoft article explains how to fix the error code 19 and get back the DVD RW. : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q314060
However this many not help improve the speed of your computer. For that you still might have to reinstall Windows. There are few sites that let you save files online, but backing up an entire hard disk is not practical; as it means uploading and downloading a HUGE amount of data. Most of those sites won’t let you save that much data (at least not for free) and uploading/downloading time could take forever if you don’t have a very high speed internet connection.
First get your DVD RW fixed, then back your data on to DVDs, that’s the quickest and cheapest way.
BTW there is no point in backing up the entire hard disk, just backup whatever the important data you have on it (i.e. Documents, photos, music, videos etc..). No need to backup the Windows or the Program Files folder, as you won’t be able to copy them back and use, after reinstalling windows. They won’t work, you’ll have to reinstall every program again!
Also after reinstalling windows (depending whether your restore or install using a DVD) you'll have to install device drivers (i.e. sound card, video card, wireless adapter, etc..) to get them working again.. If you simply restore, then no need to manually install drivers.
If you have more questions post here again.

I don't think you can fix this problem because something hit your computer really hard with a virus. If I were you I would get rid of that computer and get a mac because nothing goes wrong with macs even though there expensive and you don't need virus protection because they don't make virus' like Microsoft. If you get the computer fixed with uninstalling and reinstalling the wi-fi should still work because the router works with some type of modem from your cable or dsl company. Your cd drive is broken because dell sucks when it comes to cd drives. Your computer is very slow because Trojan goes deeper into your computer than norton anti virus does, which happened to me on my gateway computer and not on my macbook. Trojan goes so deep that it affects your computer and your running compenents which interfear with codes and then there are mutiple of error codes and then your computer is pretty much crashed.
