it popped up on my computer a while ago and started “scanning” my computer for viruses. i know it is a scam. It hasnt effected my computer at all, at least that i can tell. Can i just delete all the vista antivirus files that it has put in my computer? or do i need to get some sort of software to remove it?
i did not buy the program, does that make a difference?

Scan your computer with your Anti Virus and Anti Spyware if you don’t have them I would reccommend Avast Home Edition Anti Virus and Spyware Terminator (both free) Goto here to download and install

No you should not ignore this as Vista Antivirus 2008 is usually installed by a Trojan infection which may slip into your system through a security hole. It displays popups and alert messages of imaginary infections or threats to get you to purchase the full program. Vista Antivirus 2008 is very difficult to remove manually.
If it popped up and started scanning your usually infected
as the Trojan is usually put on through a fake video codec.
Go down to this….Automated Removal Instructions for Vista Antivirus 2008 using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
Update before scan for Free removal.

If you had a good Anti Virus program Vista Anti virus wouldn’t even have been able to put files on your computer but since they did you are in a way infected. Vista Anti Virus as you know is rogue so as long as those files remain on your computer there can be a problem.
