Itunes is slowing my PC down!?

July 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments

When I have itunes opened, it's SO slow. It takes up SO much CPU power it's so irritating! I tried watching a preview on the itunes store and god, it just kept skipping. As soon as I minimized itunes though, wow, my computer went back to normal, and everything turned fast again. anyone else having this problem?
it is a decent computer, i got it this year and it has 2 gb ram, it is not a slow computer. i have itunes running right now and it's minimized, and no problems here, just until i open it up again …
let me note that i closed all the useless processors in my task manager before opening itunes, and it still runs super slow. now somehow my mozilla firefox is running like a charm and whenever i open itunes it freezes and skips.
btw, this never happened before, just started today
Oh..well it's only when i watch the preview of the shows. when i close the preview window (when i stop watching) it doesn't go slow anymore. strange.

I know iTunes tends to be a large program, but it shouldn't cause that many problems. What are your computers specs? If it is an older computer, then it may be too slow to run iTunes smoothly.

You may want to run a spyware / adware / virus scan on your computer, just to be sure. iTunes doesn't normally do that, even on an average speed processor.

sounds like you have alot of processes running, and when you open up itunes it causes your computer to lag.
