I've been infected with the "Windows Antivirus 2008" Trojan. How can I manually remove it? I've downloaded Spybot S&D, Avira, PCilin, and the malicious software removal program by Microsoft. Its removed all the other malware, adware etc that was creating pop ups, but the programs can't seem to delete this program, it says that the files are still in use. I think this is because the program is still launched. Please help I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking of just recoverying my laptop back to the factory specs.

You would need to run "Autorun" from Systernals/Microsoft and find the DLLs that are loaded by the virus(s) and remove them from loading in memory after rebooting. Then run a scan or manually remove the files. I would recommend hower just to restore your laptop as you will be guaranteed that the viruses are gone.

boot your pc in safe mode then run the antispyware programs
in safe mode your pc only loads the most essentil drivers so the files will not be in use
to boot in safe mode
turn your pc on–on the boot screen you will se options like
bios or boot devices
your looking for boot options
it might take a few attempts but youll get it
then just run the antispyware and youll be fine
i recomend in the future you invest in norton, many people say its bloatware but in my 25 years of computer experience
its the best when it comes to protecting your system, 2008 also features a boot scan feature so you can remove spyware and virus's without booting!!!!
