and if you don't have any AntiVirus, get AVG (http://free.grisoft.com)

Install, update, and scan with each.

You need to buy the genuine software. are you using the genuine software ? by using the genuine software they can provide you the registration number or serial.

As said above, XP Antivirus is a rogue program and must be gotten rid of.
