so I just learned the hard way to backup everything often. The problem is, I don't really know how to do it other than to copy and paste everything I want to keep to my external drive. This is tedious and would be an hour every day. What is the quickest way to backup your whole hard drive on a daily basis? For example, I keep most of the files I'm working on organized in separate folders on my desktop. Then there's quickbooks and money which have quick backup features. Also the adress book, bookmarks, and email. But, again, isn't there a way to just backup the whole PC at once?? I have nero suite which I think has a utility, but I don't really understand the process…where does it all go and how do i get it later (if i need to)??? compressed file?

Just turn on system restore. It saves your entire HD and all data at specific dates, which you can choose. Then, if something goes wrong, you just restore back to that date.

your virus/internet protection software will have a backup option. i have norton virus/internet proctection and it does have backup option. it does let me back up anytime i want, what files i want to backup, and what storage device i want to back up my files.
if you want some other way to back up and you have a pc, you can follow this instructions to use backup utility. it's for XP version though. i'm not sure what OS you have. im just guessing you have XP. here's the link.

You only need to back up the whole hard drive once. Then you just back up any new programs or files on a regular basis.
