C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\AVP8\Data contains a lot of .tmp files mine has got above 3gb and it keeps on increasing. I have deleted these files couple of times but they again build up to gigabytes of space.
Can anyone tell me why these huge .tmp files are stored here and if they are temporary files why kaspersky doesnt delete them. And is it safe to delete them manually?
i am using kaspersky 2009 8.0.0.454

I’m using KIS2010 v9.0.0.463 and I also noticed that the files in the cache folder are taking almost 400MB. Your 3GB is too much. It’s not the tmp files but the dat files that are big. They contain the virus signatures that build-up in time during the course of updating.
What you can do is uninstall the program using Revo Uninstaller from:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/
and delete all folders related to KIS and then reinstall it.
Just be sure that you have a copy of your KIS license key before you uninstall it so you can reactivate it again. After that, update the virus signatures.
