Hey all. I just got my new computer yesterday (Vista x64), hence joining this forum, and I’m so glad something like this exists.
Anyway, I installed McAfee’s Internet security yesterday, then I happen to win a license for Kaspersky’s Suite. I uninstalled McAfee and during the Kaspersky install it says McAfee is still on board??? So I search and find a few throw away folders with McAfee’s name on them, so I delete them also. I try again, it still says I have it. I finally throw my hands up and install the entire McAfee Suite yet again with ‘Your Uninstaller2008′ by my side this time, hoping this will catch something I’m not. Yet AGAIN, it says I need to uninstall McAfee before I can proceed with the Kaspersky install.
Can someone please help me out with this?
Thank you so much.
chad

Have you restarted your computer? Sometimes the software hangs around until you restart.
If that doesn't work, go to System Restore (Click on the Windows Start Icon, and Search for System Restore. Try to restore to a point before you installed McAfee. If you don't have that restore point, then do the next step, the McAfee uninstaller tool.
Simply download the file here: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe and save it to your desktop. Run it, and restart.
If NONE of these worked, do the following:
Click Dell Factory Image Restore
First of all, BACKUP YOUR DATA, if you do the following steps, it CANNOT BE RECOVERED!
1) Turn off the computer
2) Turn on the computer
3) Press f8 like CRAZY!
5) If you see the advanced boot options menu, then click on repair your computer (Using the up & down arrow keys)
6) Specify the language you want, and press next
7) Login as a user who has administrative rights
9) Click next
10) Click to select the Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition check box
11) When finished, cick Finish
You computer should now be with the software and settings that you got with it when it was recieved. Now Kaspery should install easily.
