I'm thinking of buying a new antivirus for my computer. Which one is better in terms of speed, detection rate, ease of use, updates, reliability and use of memory?

Kaspersky is the better out of the two hands down.
ESET smart securty is better than both of those though.
Check the anti-virus rankings on AV-Comparatives.

avast home edition is free and does the job well enough. http://avast.com

kaspersky would be the best option but i still think AVG free home edition is the best and its free.

Go for Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 it has a better detection rate than Norton.
