limewire uses to many system resources even if your not using it and if you downloaded illegal items then some might have viruses amoung other things that slow computers its not the program but the files that are bad…

okay limewire isn't a virus, what you are downloading is. so you have to get virus scans and firewalls. you need to protect your computer from all of the internet not just limewire.
the best quick and free thing you can do is get it at superantispyware.com. that thing is miracle.
you need get something else though for all the time. i reccomend pccillin. but there are tons of other things out there.
hope it helps. and good luck.

i dont think it is nesseseraly a virus altough you can get them from it. see limewire downloads things from other peoples computers. having a risk for a virus if you are gona take the chacne to use it use AVG or any other anit virus while you are using it. and make sure you don't DL any .exe from limewire chances are it will be a virus.
do a regular scan and go here this is a good spyware remover. it should detect any spyware slowing down your computer

You can get a virus from Limewire, if you're not carefull about the downloads. There are some naughty people out there on the net
I've switched to Frostwire http://www.frostwire.com/ which i'm told is Opensource, so you don't have to pay, it's apparently by the same people that developed Limewire.
Cheers

you can do the following hopefully it boost your speeds back.
Check properties to see which program are running, disable it when running limewire. Only two thing should run when running limewire is the anti-virus/firewall and limewire itself.
Adjust windows for best performance instead of appearance.
Run windows standard disk clean and Defrag. (occasionally)
last option buy more RAM for ur beast
