I have been using my wireless router with my laptop for 8 months or so now without a problem. I took my laptop with me to vacation in TX and connected to my Aunt's wireless network without difficulty. 5 days into vacation it started saying connected with limited connectivity. Full signal strength and no internet. Then I come home and still says the same message with my home router. I have powered down, and powered up multiple times and have had no results. The computer says that all components are working well and have run my virus software with nothing coming up. Anything else I should try???
My desktop in the other room is still connected to the internet without an issue. I really feel like it is a problem with something on the laptop..but with vista, I don't know enough even to get to the point of a DHCP… I cannot seem to get it to tell me whether or not it is connected by that.

Moving from one network to another can do tricky things to your connection. Try resetting your router to factory defualt settings and checking your firewalls.

Most often, this is caused by a failure to receive an address, via your DHCP server, which most likely is part of your router. View your network connections. Highlight the wireless one, and see what it says, in the lower right hand corner.
If it says assigned by DHCP, you are good. If it says "Locally Administrated Private Address"; you are not. The fix, usually is to disable, and then enable the connection. You accomplish this, by right clicking on the connection, and selecting, the appropriate option.
